With only 2 weeks until Thanksgiving, the holiday season is here! The holidays can be stressful with jam packed to do lists, family and friends in and out of the house, and travel galore. I am going to give you 5 ways to have a happy & healthy holiday season so you can have enjoy what really matters.
You get all the basics of meal planning in last week’s post. For the holidays, I recommend creating a menu ahead of time for the big days (like Thanksgiving & Christmas). Don’t be afraid to ask for help from family and friends if you are hosting. Also, allow your kitchen to be self-service for meals like breakfast and lunch. This frees you up for other activities (or some time for YOU!)
Be present during this holiday season by looking up from your phone and other devices. Encourage your family to do the same. Some easy ways to unplug: leave your phone in another room during meals, turn off the TV and play a family game, remove social media apps from your phone temporarily.
3. Get plenty of sleep.
Lack of sleep leads to increased stress, decreased efficiency, and forgetfulness. None of which you need during the most wonderful time of the year. Make your sleep a priority this season and wake up feeling ready for whatever the day brings.
4. Shop early.
Make a list, check it twice, and head to the store early this year. By planning and mailing gifts ahead of time, you will avoid the crowds, save yourself the angst of rushing to the post office, and get to enjoy the gift giving process.
5. Make a To-Do List
Writing a to do list helps to maximize productivity while keeping you organized and focused on the tasks at hand. Make a to do list that is reasonable for each day and leave room for the unexpected.
BONUS TIP: Set boundaries. You can’t do everything this holiday season. Be intentional with your activities and generous with your gifts. It is perfectly okay to say no to some things.
What do you do to enjoy the holiday season? I’d love to hear how you stay happy (& healthy) during the holidays. Post in the comments section below. And, if you like what you see, please share it with your friends!
