12 Days of Decluttering Challenge - Day 3

Here we are in Day #3 of the 12 Days of Decluttering Challenge. Be sure to follow along with me on Instagram stories throughout the days of this challenge. You’ll be able to share your decluttered spaces and see others who are also part of the challenge. If you are just joining us, hop back to day one for your first mission. Here is our plan for day 3:

Remember that episode of Friends with Monica’s boots? Monica convinces Chandler that she HAS TO HAVE these expensive leather boots. She says she will wear them everywhere and then they turn out to hurt so badly she hates them. Chandler even has to carry her down the streets of NYC to their home. To make matters worse, in all the haste of picking her up, they leave the shoes on the side of the street. This is like that, except you aren’t going to leave your shoes on the side of the street. Heck, you might even get some money for them!

We’ve all bought a pair of shoes that turn out to be uncomfortable. Sometimes the cost of an item or guilt keeps us holding on to things we don’t need, use or love. This is the sunk cost fallacy in a nut shell. We’ve spent the money whether we keep the shoes or not. So here is your permission slip to get rid of shoes that hurt, don’t fit well or ones that you never ever wear.

And go through that sock drawer while you are at it and discard…

  • ripped hosery

  • socks without a match

  • socks with holes

  • hosery that you no longer need

See you tomorrow for Day #4!
