12 Days of Decluttering Challenge - Day 4

Welcome to Day #4 of the 12 Days of Decluttering Challenge See days 1, 2, and 2 here). Be sure to follow along with me on Instagram stories throughout the days of this challenge. You’ll be able to share your decluttered spaces and see others who are also part of the challenge. How are you feeling after the first few days? Are you gaining momentum?

Today we are going to declutter our cleaning supplies. Before I go too much farther, I want to point to three cleaning accounts that I love. I’ve found that having a go-to resource has helped me slim down my cleaning supplies and identify what I actually need (versus buying products to try out the latest fad):

Home Storage Solutions has a great guide for decluttering these things. Here’s what they say:

  • Throw out all the empty bottles, or if they're almost empty (and you'll actually use them) make an effort to use them up before opening or purchasing anything else so you can get rid of those things soon.

  • Toss anything you bought but just didn't love and so you never use.

  • Declutter your cleaning tools, such as mops, brooms, dusters, vacuums, etc. Again, don't declutter them all but if you've got multiples, something is broken, or there are just items you never use it is time to let them go.

You may also want to take this opportunity to declutter your laundry supplies.

What do you think of their solutions? I thought it was dead on when it came to what and how I needed to pair down. I also set out a box of cleaning supplies that I knew I wasn’t going to use for my neighbors and it was picked up within a few days. It helped me feel less wasteful and know that they would be put to good use.

In 2022, I would like to make a move toward more sustainable living including cleaning supplies. I know this move will take time but it is helping me while I declutter to have a vision for where I want to be in the future. Another consideration:

  • Do you have help with cleaning on a regular basis?

  • Do your cleaners bring their own equipment and supplies?

  • What do you actually need for daily maintanence?

I can’t wait to keep decluttering with y’all over the next week! Be sure to check out my instgarm and share your spaces. Also, I’m including links to my favorite cleaning supplies below.
