Organize: Christmas Decor Storage
I’ve kept Christmas decorating pretty simple this year. What about you? All the same, come December 26th I’ll want to take it down. Do you keep your Christmas decor up through the New Year or are you a take it down immediately kind of person? Either way, the right Christmas decor storage makes it so much easier to put away your decor and find it the following year.
Here is a look at some of the products I recommend for storing holiday decor and why I like each of them. Click on any of the images to learn more about the Christmas decor storage items shown!
Christmas Wreaths + Trees
Wreaths are a tough items to store. For all holidays including Christmas, I like to utilize vertical wall space and simply hang the wreaths on a command hook or picture hanger. If you are short on wall space or prefer to stack wreaths in bins, I suggest plastic wreath bins to protect your wreaths. Either approach keeps them safe from getting smashed or mangled in between seasons.
Do you have a real or artificial tree in your house? We generally do a real tree so the biggest clean up is vacuuming the needles and taking the tree to the local recyling place (and lets be honest, Ty does that!). If you do have an artificial tree, many come with a zip bag that allows for easy storage. And if you are in the market for an after-Christmas tree I would suggest buying one with a storage bag.
Christmas Decor and Ornaments
Personally I just wrap my oranments in tissue paper. I keep fragile ones in their original boxes. And then everything goes in a clear bin with a label of “Christmas.” However if you want a little structure to your ornament storage (and to get rid of the origiinal boxes), these slotted dividers for ornaments are a great pick. They are affordable, easy to manipulate for different size ornament and recyclable.
Christmas Lights
Last but not least, I store holiday lights by wrapping them around a large piece of cardboard and file folding them into a box. You can buy a cardboard reel or use an Amazon box cut into a rectangle to serve the same purpose. Either way, your lights will remain separated and untangled. You can even label each set directly on the cardboard.
