Spring Cleaning: What’s in my cleaning caddy?

As you all get started on the Spring Organizing Challenge, your first task is to prep and plan. I talk about that more in this post. I’d love to hear which rooms you chose and why. I will be tackling my bathrooms, my closet and based on your votes….

...wait for it…

Our outdoor spaces including our front porch and the back deck.

Your first step after identifying which areas you are going to focus on for the challenge is to take everything out. BUT before we get there, lest make sure we’ve got everything in order to make the spring cleaning portion of this challenge easy.

And if you haven’t signed up for the challenge and a chance to win $100 to the Container Store, you can do that here.

Today your task is more prep in the form of gathering your cleaning supplies. Here is what’s in my cleaning caddy and how I use each of these products:

From Left to Right, Top to Bottom: O’Cedar Spin Mop, Windex Window Cleaner, Full Circle Grout Brush, Bar Keeper’s Friend, Weimann’s Stainless Steel Cleaner, Endust, Powdered Tide, Bissell Hand Vac, Dyson Hand Vacuum, Green Mr. Clean, Bleach

O’Cedar Spin Mop

Truth be told, I don’t have one of these yet but one of y’all told me that it is like teh miracle mop - as in mopping might actually be fun. Apparantly all you have to do is add a teaspoon of powdered tide and hot water from the tp. Spin it 7-10 times and go to town. It pulls all the product build up off your floor and makes them look brand new. You had me at “add powdered tide. “

Windex

Glass, duh. But only after you have removed the soap scum. You can use Bar Keepers friend to that, a traditional Scrubbing Bubbles like product, or tide and hot hot water. I also like to wipe down all of my fixtures at the end of cleaning to make them super shiny.

Full Circle Grout Brush

I have used a lot of grout brushes and this one is the best. Easy to hold and gets the job done.

Bar Keeper’s Friend

I use this a LOT of places - our porcelain bathtub, ceramic tile, the sink. Just read the instructions on the back to make sure the surface is viable for the product. If it is, use it! It works so so well.

Weiman’s

Spray on all your stainless steel. The trick here is to let it sit for 3 minutes and then wipe the surfaces clean. Give it a chance to work, people.

Endust or Pledge

Smells good. Dusts good. All good.

Powdered Tide

After discovering the magic of powdered tide, I threw away 90% of my expensive cleaning products. Fill a sink full of hot water and teaspoon of tide (plus a splash of bleach sometimes) and everything shines and smells great. Powdered detergents contain surfactants which are great for eliminating hard water stains and dirt.

Bissell Hand Vac

I shared this gem on my insta stories awhile back. It is one of the few impulse buys I have made in my life - and a gadget purchase at that. Ty was shocked! I love it. I use it to clean hard to reach spaces, get the crumbs off the stove before cleaning, dust on my desk and all of my drawers, shelves and cabinets.

Dyson

We have hte older V7 Animal and really like it. Before that, we had the Dyson Big Ball Animal. Love a Dyson. Probably the only vaccuum I iwll ever own. If I had to buy one now, I would by the V11 Animal.

Green Mr. Clean

LOVE this as a degreaser. Its like the pretreat before the big clean. I use it to wipe down the stove, backsplash and cabinets in the kitchen before using tide and hot water. Such a great product. And I like that it comes concentrated so you can make it into a spray bottle for daily surfaces too.

Bleach

Cuz COVID y’all. But also, I have replaced many of my more expensive cleaning products with bleach. For instance, instead of toilet bowl cleaner I now use bleach. And as my all purpose disinfectant (where its safe) I use bleach, hot water and tide.

Full disclosure, I am not a cleaning professional. I just watch a lot of Go Clean Co videos. The point is for you to gather all of your cleaning products in one spot so that you are not running around wasting time when you should be scrubbing the heck outta your bathroom (I’m so much fun, I know!)

I’d love to see your cleaning caddies! Snap a pic of yours and head on over to instagram to tag @organizenashville. Your photo will earn you an extra chance at the $100 in the Spring Organizing Challenge.

Okay y’all. See you out there!

Xx
