Spring Organizing Challenge: My Bathroom

I’m kicking off the spring organizing challenge in my own home in my bathroom. If there is one place that could use a good scrubbing and a little love on the organizing front, its here. What about you? Where are you starting in your home? Are bathrooms on the spring organizing and cleaning list?

If you haven’t joined the spring organizing challenge yet, it’s not too late. Just by entering you could win $100 to The Container Store.

For my bathroom, I am following my organizing process. Since it’s a bigger area, I divided it into 4 zones:

  1. The tub zone

  2. The toilet zone

  3. The sink and storage zone

  4. The shower zone

I’m going to work the process through each zone before moving on to the next.

Tip: If you are also dividing into zones, make sure your linen or storage areas are combined into one zone. That way you can tackle all your products at once and make an educated game plan for organizing.

The take everything out stage of the organizing process is the perfect time for a deep clean. And since we are in the midst of a spring organizing challenge, don’t miss this opportunity.

For our tub area, I...

  • Vacuumed the whole area first to get all of the loose dirt and hair

  • Scrubbed the baseboards with super hot water and tide

  • Used bar keepers friend on the metal surfaces, interior and exterior of the tub. Then I rinsed with water and wiped dry.

  • Finally I put everything back and vacuumed again.

Take this opportunity to wash all of your rugs, bath mats and towels too.

If you’ve been following along in my stories, then you know that I recently organized my sink drawers and under sink space. It does need a good scrubbing and a little maintenance though. So I am taking everything out of each drawer, vacuuming the inside using my FAVORITE little gadget and then putting things back where they belong.

TIP: Take everything out. Clean from top to bottom, left to right. Vacuum before you wet any surfaces to remove hair and dirt first.

I hope to keep tackling my bathroom one zone at a time over the rest of this week before moving on to my closet and our outdoor spaces. What about you? What’s on your plan for this week?
