Getting Organized for Baby #2
When it came to Tommy, we didn’t know if we were having a boy or a girl. This was so helpful when it came to a registry. I feel like we leaned toward the minimal side of things (and were glad we did). We got all of the essentials and felt very equipped when he arrived - all that was left to buy was the fun stuff like cute baby boy onesies and teeny tiny hats and socks.
For baby #2 though, my focus is a little different. There are so many things I learned as a new mom and I want to optimize our experience with baby boy #2. Plus, make it easy to chase a toddler while holding a newborn (just kidding, I’m not a superhero!). So here is my list of wants for baby boy divided into essentials and like to haves.
THE ESSENTIALS:
Haakaa Manual Breast Pump
Hands Free Pump (I’ve heard the Elvie is superb!)
Baby Glider Attachment for Stroller // Double Stroller and/or attachments for current
THE LIKE TO HAVES:
Magnetic Onesies (I didn’t even know these existed until recently but I’ve heard great things and can imagine they make nighttime changes SO MUCH easier!)
Ergo Baby Carrier (I already have several wraps but like the idea of baby being more secure with a toddler running around)
Additional free-standing cradle option for baby:
Mamaroo (I have heard this is touch and go - babies either love or hate. May be good to borrow and test before diving in.)
Baby Bjorn (We had this with Tommy and it was so great! Highly recommend)
If we need to do formula again, I am definitely investing in this formula maker: Baby Brezza
Especially since we are having the same gender, I feel pretty good about what we have as a foundation. I asked two dear mama friends their considerations for second baby and here’s what they asked:
Do you need an additional car seat or to upgrade the eldest’s?
Do you need a second changing station or a crib?
What’s’ your stroller situation? Do you need a double? Attachments for current?
If you breastfed or plan to and used a pump, do you need to upgrade your pump? Do you need to replace parts and pieces?
If you used bottles or plan to, do you need to replace nipples and rings?
Do you have a secure place for baby (think toddler hands and needing to get up suddenly) like a dock-a-tot, Baby Bjorn or Mama-roo? (linking all below)
If you a mom of two or more (or have a second on the way) what would you recommend? Taking all the suggestions as we plunge into 1:1 defense mode with two little boys in just a few months.
xx
