#OrgNash21 Day Challenge (Video #5 - Meal Planning in 5 minutes)

Okay, you know the drill. So far, we’ve tackled the organizing process, tested the process on our bookshelves, created a charging station AND drop zone. Phew! Who knew corona could be so productive? Today we are shifting gears a little bit and I am sharing how I meal plan each week in only 5 minutes.

Here’s how to execute this #napsizeproject:

1.ONE TIME Brain Dump (Total Time = 5 minutes)

Set a timer for 5 minutes. Gather a pen and notepad and number 1-21. Write out the first 21 meals that come to your mind. These should be your go-to meals that you cook regularly.

2. Congratulations! You have just created your CORE RECIPE LIST. (Nerd Alert: I typed mine up. Totally unnecessary but one way to take this project to the #nextlevel). This is the exact list you will select from every week to create a rotating calendar of meals with very little repeats.

Here is your next ONE TIME task: For those menu items where you use a recipe, go ahead and locate those. I like to store mine in a tab binder like the one above (think old school trapper keeper) so that meal planning slides right into shopping list creation.

3. Step #3: The actual meal planning. Pick a day each week (I like Sunday mornings) to meal plan. Looking at your 21 core items pick one for each evening of the week. Don’t forget things like DATE NIGHT, TAKE OUT, PIZZA NIGHT, etc. If you want to try a new recipe one night, do it!

4. Step #4: SEE IT. USE IT. ENJOY IT. I like the acrylic menu board from Style&Dwell to post the menu for the fam to see. That way I don’t have to answer that dreaded question “What’s for dinner?” I just point and smile. (Get your own acrylic menu board here).

You need only a few items for this project (all linked below):

  1. A pen and pad

  2. Binder and dividers (or some way to corral all of your recipes)

  3. Label Maker for said dividers (optional)

  4. Menu Board (dry erase, chalkboard, acrylic menu board)
