What I wear to church
I don’t know about y’all but I find getting ready for church to be stressful. We attend a more traditional service and so I dress up more on Sundays than any other day of the week. However, I don’t want to buy tons of dressy clothes when the other 6 days of the week look more like jeans and tennis shoes. In this post, I put together a bunch of outfits that use elements of my day to day wardrobe while also being appropriate for a more traditional church service. And because I know many of us attend a more modern service where jeans and more casual wear is acceptable, I’m sharing a few ideas for simple pulled together looks here too. I hope you will find this helpful whether you attend a traditional, modern or somewhere in between church service!
Traditional Church Service Outfit Ideas
For traditional church service, I generally pair an everyday top with a more formal bottom and heels. This minimizes the number of items I have to purchase while still providing a number of outfits. My outfits are all just a slight variation of the last but it just goes to show that you only need a few pieces to create tons of outfits that look pulled together.

Traditional Church Service Outfit Formulas
I’ve made it super easy to recreate these same oufits from clothes in your own closet using these simple outfit formulas
My church specific wardrobe consists of:
Black Trousers
Camel Trousers
Grey Wool Skirt
Cream Silk Skirt
Black Heels
All of the other items like the black blazer, the leather boots, the grey and black sweaters are also part of my everyday wardrobe so they pull double duty and I don’t feel like I’m buying so many “church” clothes.
Modern Church Service Outfit Ideas
These are great outfits to wear if your church service is more amenable to jeans and more casual outfits. I love that these looks still use items from my everyday wardrobe yet are pulled together and elevated enough for church.
