SOS: Emily’s Kid Cabinet

SOS

Hey there and welcome back to the SOS! Blog Series. I can’t believe we’ve already done so many spaces in this series. I love that y’all are finding this helpful. If you want to be featured, just send me your space to organizingnashville@gmail.com

This week, I am helping Emily in her kitchen. If you follow me on instgram, then you may remember her home from the closet I did right before the Feb 2020 COVID quarantine. It is still one of my favorite spaces to date. Emily is super organized, talented and busy mama of 4. She wanted a way to organize this cabinet in her kitchen so that her kiddos can independently grab snacks, plates, and cups.

Emily sent me the dimensions of her cabinet and I asked her a few follow-up questions. Here is what I came up with to organize her cabinet:

  • Make it easy for kids to know where it goes. Even if Emily’s kiddos don’t get the plate position right every time, the items will all be corralled in one of three bins so they can get to them easily.

  • Label it so that if/when they can read, they (hopefully) land in the right spot.

  • Create a spot for eveyrthing. When you are relying on a system, you don’t want it to break down. The number one cause of a pulling the andon cord is not knowing where something goes.
